Probably about to bore you with what has been entertaining my thoughts for a week or so now. I realize that it is probably ridiculous to get caught up in the NBA, and I'm sure that it's even stupider to get the nervous feeling in my stomach whenever I read the headlines. But I simply do not enjoy the future of the Mavs pending in the air. I keep hearing that it is impossible for someone to be on the fence about the whole trade offer. But I am.
I'm for it: I am ok with giving up Harris, who obviously has amazing potential, in order to obtain a point guard that would benefit us more now. I'm ok giving up Ager and Hassle because I feel like they would be easy to replace down the way, and I'm even ok with giving up Mr. Adorable Diop, who I love very very much, because I know that when it comes down to it he is just another big body, and there are plenty of those in the NBA. I am aware of the experience and mental toughness that Kidd will add to the Mavs and I'm certain that the leadership role will shift slightly off of Dirk, giving him the freedome to be more relaxed.
I'm against it: Defense. That's really what Avery has been preaching about every since he's been here. Why give up the only guard in the West that can actually keep up with Parker and Nash? The only one that can defend Davis and Williams? And Iverson... you really think that Kidd will stay on him? I guess you can put Eddie Jones on them or hope that our zone defense improves real soon. But I just feel sorry for the guys that get traded away like livestock.
Needless to say, I am ready for the deal to be final, regardless of the outcome.
