Child in You (Feeder)

Keeping with the theme of learning life leason's from kids...

My 5 year old nephew went to the eye doctor a week or so ago. While there we learned that his right eye is getting weak, so the eye doctor gave him a patch to wear over his left eye 3 hours a day, in order to force his right eye to get stronger. He has to wear it for 1 hr, 3 times a day. The first time he wore it to school, he came home and told us that some of the kids made fun of him. I was pretty furious, and really dissapointed that at age 5 kids can already by so cruel.

Yesterday, Corey took him to school, wearing the patch. Colby was reluctant to go into his class and begged his dad to please take the patch off. The way Corey described the look on his face was really heart breaking. Colby is a kid that has all the confidence in the world and the idea that he was so scared and ashamed is out of character. Corey took the patch off and put it in Colby's back pack. He then told the teacher about the situation and she smiled, telling Corey not to worry, that she would take care of the situation.

Colby comes home and shows his folder to his dad. In this folder the teacher will put a list of what they covered, she will talk about how he acted, and show off art work that the kids do. Taped to the inside of the folder was a post it note that read...

"Colby wore his patch for 1

hour today. The class sat down

and Colby explained why

he wears it and how it's to

help him see better. The class then

made their very own patches and

wore them for the hour that

Colby had his on. We then

took a class picture!"
