Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (Cindy Lauper)

I think the first time I remember hearing the quote “You always hurt the one you love” was from the 1985 film Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. I remember being 5 years old and watching the movie with my sisters, wondering why jokes were funny. As I got older I began to appreciate the greatness of all the jokes and eventually got to the point where I would remember the movie line for line.

 

The scene where Shannen Doherty told her brother those words played in my mind all night last night. I am leaving in a matter or DAYS to go see John. Because things have been so unusual about the entire situation, the only time he will have to give me a proposal and ring will be during this time. He wanted to use this jeweler out of New York, because one of his friends used him and the ring was beautiful. So the ring was shipped this wee and last night I had to pick it up.

 

Now, back to the quote, I sat there and starred at this tiny wrapped box, knowing that no one was there to stop me from opening it. BUT also knowing that if I saw it before John it would make him so sad.
