Heart Shaped Box (Nirvana)

In the mix of finding an apartment, and a job, I forgot to mention the most amazing news of all.

In doing some research about my niece's condition, I was able to learn a little more aboutthe situation. We were mostly concerned with what the cause of this birth defect was. In talking to Corey, I am under the impression that 1% of every child born is born with a heart defect. If I understand right, of that 1%, only 1% is at random. So basically 1 in every 100 child is born with a heart defect and 1 in every 100,000 has a heart defect that isn't caused by anything. The remaining number of heart defects are caused by a chromozonal type defect. This could be anything from Downs Syndrom, to considerably worse.

Lisa's tests shows that the little Lia Kate (thats what we will call her for now) has this defect at random. And that is something that we are very greatful for. Lisa made the comment "I can't believe that I am so relieved that my baby has only a heart defect." I couldn't agree with her more.
