The longer I live in Oklahoma, the less these Okies surprise me. However lately I found myself being blown away by them time after time. While laying in my bed, listening to the Tornado sirens, I asked myself, no ordered myself, never to become an Okie.
1. I refuse to take cover when a Tornado is 30 miles from my home, and heading in the opposite direction. I realize that you love the sound and intensity that the sirens make, but surely you can get your thrills every Saturday at noon (when you test these sirens.)
2. I refuse to make small talk with random people, just because I hate the silence. "Well, originally I am from Muskogee. But as you can tell from my accent, I am from the eastern side of Muskogee..."
3. I refuse to be a split second fan about anything sports related. "Texas Tech beats Texas in a last second play? Let's go Raiders." "Denver beats the Mavs in game 5!?!? I have always loved the nuggets! AI is my favorite... AI got traided? Oh?"
4. I refuse to drive 30 miles an hour in the left hand lane. I won't.
Please hold me to every word of this blog.
